| Location. The Morrison Clark Hotel stands two blocks from the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The White House and the Smithsonian Institution museums are one mile away. Hotel Features. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Morrison Clark Hotel features a lobby filled with antique photographs, etchings and furnishings. Breakfast is served in the adjacent Drawing Room. Lunch and dinner are served in the on site restaurant's Ruby Room, which features Italian Carrera marble fireplaces and crystal chandeliers. Alfresco dining is offered during favorable weather. An interior, bricked courtyard features a fountain, tropical plants and ornamental antique bird cages. Internet access is complimentary in public areas. A small fitness room is equipped with three cardiovascular machines, and contains a water cooler and towels. Guestrooms. The five story Morrison Clark Hotel offers 54 guestrooms with color schemes and configurations that vary with each room. Victorian Rooms are decorated with antique furnishings and reflect Asian influences. Antique chandeliers include those fashioned with intricate rose petal shaped glass. Beds feature carved headboards, and are dressed with Frette Italian linens, mattress toppers and down duvets. Select accommodations feature Italian Carrera marble fireplaces. Standard rooms feature Neo Classical design, and Parlor Rooms display Neo Classical or French Country decor. All rooms include minibars. Bathrooms are stocked with Bath & Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena toiletries. Wireless Internet access is complimentary. Expert Tip. Originally built as a private residence, the 19th century Morrison Clark Hotel was converted in 1923 into an inexpensive club for soldiers and sailors. First Ladies, including Mamie Eisenhower and Jacqueline Kennedy, presided over the club. Years later, the club was purchased by M. Frank Ruppert who, following a trip to China, added the hotel's Chinese Chippendale porch and the Shanghai style roof.
